

Yaa Asare, 45, of East Hartford, died Sunday (September 26, 2010) at St Francis Hospital. She was born in Kumasi, Ghana, a daughter of Beatrice Nkansah-Apau a retired Headmistress of Yaa Achia Girls School in Ghana and the late Charles Owusu-Asare, a High Court Judge. Yaa was a private certified nursing assistant (CNA) throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut and also worked at many area nursing homes. In addition to her mother, Yaa is survived by her husband Sarfo Mensah and her daughter Kellsie Frances Sarfoah Mensah of East Hartford, her sister Joana Boateng, a.k.a. Ewura Ama Gaisie of Texas, two brothers Eric Osei Yaw Akoto and Charles Aboagye Owusu-Asare Jr. both of Ghana, several nieces and nephews among them, Ashley and Alyson Boateng, Theophilus Boateng Jr, Imani Moore and Sidney Salafia; cousins Lena Ellis, CT; Jennifer Ocansey, CT and her aunts Veronica Auburn, RI; Serwaah Afriyie Koduah, GH; Afia Kobi Acheampong, GH; Elizabeth Patricia Graham Eshun, NY; Victoria Koduah, GH; Kate Koduah Moore, Toronto; Tina Boachiwaa Prempeh Koduah, OH; Victoria Enyan NJ and uncles Kwame Ocansey, CT; A.B.A. Prempeh, London; K. T Koduah, CT; Kojo Hagan, RI; Paa Koduah, CT; Kwaku Graham, OR; Larry Koduah, CT.; Peter Enyan-Boadu NY. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday (October 29, 2010) starting with evening calling hours 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday October 30, 2010 at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church in East Hartford. Burial to be determined.
