Aunt Amy's life has been a blessing to us and our children.  She was always so loving and kind and concerned about all of her extended family.  We have so many fond memories of times with her and Uncle Milo over the years.  I think of all the wonderful visits, the fun  books they brought our children and are now being read to our grand children, playing games together, traveling together, the caring calls over the years, and constant concern for us.  We are thankful God touched our lives through hers.  We pray God will comfort you through this difficult and sad time.

I feel fortunate to be a part of a family that had so many remarkable siblings, like Aunt Amy.  Since being  the youngest,she became the one that bound us all together, never forgeting anyone.  The family grew quite large and spread across all states.  But, Amy managed to keep in touch with most and to share with us, what she knew of the family.  I will miss her greatly, and our frequent talks. The memories will remain forever and I am proud to be one of her many nephews

  It was a privilege to have this remarkable lady in our lives.  She was the glue that bound our far flung families.  The knowledge she had of the extended family members and the effort to maintain these close contacts were astounding.
  Our small branch of the family tree appreciated all of her contacts and especially those anticipated Arizona winter visits of Amy and Milo - the reunion, the stories, the games, the family history, the laughter and, oh yes, her baking of Grandma P's black walnut cake.  Aunt Amy was the aunt that we all cherished and would wish to emulate.

I was so sorry to  read of Mrs. Chalfant's passing.  I was one of Mrs. Chalfant's "kids" at Central Elementary 40+ years ago.  There are not many teachers that have stayed in my heart over the years, but Mrs. Chalfant is one of them.  My mind's eye can still see her reading to the children - all of us gathered around her feet, the inflection in her voice, so much passion with each story shared, each story finding life through Mrs. Chalfant's reading.   This was Mrs. Chalfant's gift to the children of Central Elementary, and I can honestly say, that  Mrs. Chalfant's life was a gift to mine.

Aunt Amy was an amazing woman and the matriarch of our family.  Family was everything to her and she always knew who each person was no matter how much time had passed since we last saw her.  She would study you for a moment and then very precisely tell you your name and how you fit into the family tree.  She was a wonderful storyteller and an equally talented listener.  When you had a conversation with her she was focused on you and what you had to say.  Aunt Amy had a strong influence on my interest in family history and thankfully she was eager to share her knowledge with anyone who asked.  She passed on a wealth of information to several of her great-nieces, so hopefully we will all be able to continue her work in keeping the family connected.  Aunt Amy will be greatly missed by so many, but she will certainly remain vivid in our hearts and memories.

Penny Chalfant was a very fine neighbor and friend. She and Milo were always friendly and supportive of anyone in the neighborhood. For many years, she walked her little white dog which got exercise for her and outside time for her dog. She was very fond of that dog. But there was NOTHING more important to Penny than her family. She could spend hours telling about each of them and what they had achieved. Her family gave her much joy! Now she can be with Our Lord as they look down upon us and encourage us to be the BEST WE CAN BE. She is at peace!
