Age 91 ½ went to be with the Lord and her husband Milo Thursday, January 12, 2012. Born July 21, 1920 in Sac City, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Alta Penniman, married Milo Chalfant on May 25, 1944 and were together for 53 ½ years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. Amy was a teacher in Iowa for 8 years and a Librarian for Central School in East Lansing for 10 years. Amy was an extraordinary story teller and appeared on the WJIM TV show “The Attic”. She was a woman of great faith and a member of Olivet Baptist Church for many years. She is survived by her son Jon Chalfant and his wife Ruby, grandchildren Tim (Sarah), Amy (Bruce), Joni, Jessica (Raymond), Lori (Tommy); great grandchildren Alayna, Philip, Bryce, Elijah, Tobi, Malachi, Detrick, Ezariah, Victoria, David, Alexis, Madison, Delilah, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 16, 11:00 a.m. at Olivet Baptist Church, 5455 Willoughby Rd, Lansing, MI 48911. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 15 from 2-4 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
