

Barbara Elaine Dalzell, born on May 4, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to Gordon and Freda Fox, passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Barbara grew up in Birmingham, MI and attended Seaholm High School. She was a graduate of Michigan State University, receiving her degree in Education in 1965. She taught early elementary in Adrian, MI and later in Lansing, MI for over 25 years. Barbara was married to John Dalzell for 46 years. They inspired and brought out the best in each other, and raised their family with unconditional love.
Barbara was always working on a puzzle. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her grandchildren. Barbara also enjoyed knitting, sewing, and gardening. She loved the outdoors, from hiking to bird watching and climbing the dunes. In her retirement years, she took on learning piano and supporting her family and friends.
Barbara volunteered at Sparrow Hospital where she was president of Angelus League. She was a Deacon in her church where she participated in a faith-based book club, taught Sunday School, and was part of the church knitting group. Barbara was also a troop leader for Brownies and Girl Scouts. She lived a life of honesty, responsibility, loyalty, courage, faith, and service.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth Dalzell and Kathleen (Dwayne) Harrigan; grandchildren, Hayden, Renee, and Nolan Harrigan; sister, Joan Hayes; brother-in-law, Thomas (Mary Lil) Dalzell; sister-in-law, Glendyl Dalzell; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Gordon (Annie) Fox; brothers-in-law, Daniel Dalzell and Robert Hayes.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1315 Abbot Rd with Rev. Kristin Stroble officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the time of service.
