Berniece Ruth Ramsey

Berniece Ruth Ramsey, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Lansing, Michigan. She was born December 11, 1926 in Lansing to Clarence and Ruth (Hollern) Warren. After graduating from high school, Berniece proudly joined the war effort and helped wire bazookas in the converted auto factories of Lansing. Once the war ended, she worked for many years as an underwriter for Employer’s Mutual. When she wasn’t working, Berniece loved to garden and golf. She was a fantastic bowler, and she and her team – the JC Walter’s Bowling Team – held the women’s team bowling high score for many, many years.

Berniece loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandkids and later, great-grandkids. She was always up for any activity, and she remained active her whole life. She was a selfless person, always putting others first: even when it meant planning Thanksgiving dinner around the Lions game, Berniece wanted everyone to be happy and comfortable.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederic Ramsey; her daughter, Sue Ellen Halfmann; her siblings; and her parents.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michael (Theresa) Ramsey, Frederic Ramsey, Matthew (Jennifer) Ramsey, and Paul Halfmann; her 6 grandchildren; her 9 great-grandchildren; and her dear friends, Flora and Steve Wilson and Jo Snellenberger.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:00am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4pm until 7pm. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing, Michigan.
