

Bette grew up on her family farm in Williamston and graduated valedictorian from Haslett High School in 1940. Since she was only 16 upon graduation, she worked in the office at the high school. Bette then attended Lansing Business College graduating with a Secretarial Degree. She joined the Denise Business Sorority and her sorority sisters became lifelong friends. Bette met her future husband, Robert Joseph Hundt, on a blind date and married a year later on September 23, 1950 at People’s Church, East Lansing. She was employed at MC Snyder Co., Sunoil Co., Farm Bureau Insurance and East Lansing School System. Bette loved her teachers at McDonald Middle School. Bette was a member of the Okemos Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #267 and the Haslett Community Church Choir.
She was preceded in death by: her husband of 58 years Robert Hundt; her parents, Earl and Jane (Towner) Leeman; her sister, Donna (Leeman) Nesbitt; her brother, Wayne Leeman; brother-in-law, James Nesbitt; and her son, Baby Hundt. Surviving are: son, Dr. Jon (Roxanne) Hundt; daughter, Jan (Bruce) Buckman; grandchildren, Devin and Shalane Hundt; Laura (Jered) Van Kirk, Mary (Cole) Meredith, Arthur Buckman; great grandchildren, Alex and Nathan Van Kirk, Ty and Liv Meredith; sister-in-law Rita Leeman; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, August 11 2016, at Haslett Community Church, 1427 Haslett Rd., Haslett, with Pastor Campbell Lovett officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos. The family will receive friends at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, on Wednesday from 6-8 pm with Eastern Star Services being provided by the Okemos Chapter #267, O.E.S, at 7:00 pm. The family will also receive friends at the church on Thursday 1 hour prior to the service. Those desiring may make contributions to Alzheimer’s Association National Office, 225 N.
