

Betty Elaine Lyons died at the age of 94 on April 17, 2016. Betty was born in Lansing, MI in 1921 to Mina and Fred Brazee. She was one of a family of seven brothers and sisters. She graduated from Eaton Rapids High School. In 1940, she married Edward Lyons and they remained together for 66 years, until his death in 2006. She was employed in many capacities over the years but enjoyed her time as a school secretary the most. After her retirement, she worked as a crossing guard for the Lansing schools. Betty was a gifted artist. She enjoyed working on craft projects and was always sewing something. As a devout Christian she spent her much of quiet time studying scriptures and reading the bible. Family meant everything to Betty. She treasured the time she could spend with them. Her husband, parents, and all of her siblings preceded Betty in death. Surviving are her two sons, Terry (Gina), and Timothy (Kathy); her grandchildren, Chris (Susan), Sean (Cheryl), Eric, and Jessica (Jason) Galey; and her 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 21 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, Michigan, with Rev. Dr. Daryl Franzel from The Capitol City Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral, beginning at 1:00 pm. There will be no graveside services.
