Born, December 21, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Gladys Doane, passed away March 7, 2013 at the age of 92. Bev graduated from Michigan State University in 1942 with a major in Home Economics. She married the love of her life, Gary Marshall, in September 1942. Bev and Gary made their home in East Lansing for all of their lives. They were very much in love and enjoyed the companionship of many dear friends. Bev was the consummate homemaker and loved applying her wonderful cooking and decorating skills to the advantage of her family and friends. She enjoyed participating in the Junior League, the Sparrow Hospital Guild, Peoples Church activities, and many other community groups over the years. She loved playing cards with Bridge being a favorite. She loved playing games of any kind and her friends and family have many happy memories (and funny stories) from those times. Her get-togethers with the “Tennis Group” are legendary. Bev will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Gary; brother, Donald Marshall; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Doane and Mary Marshall. She is survived by her children, David (Tricia), Chris, Julie and Jeffrey (Jill) Marshall; grandchildren, Jamie Marshall, Katie (Dan) Choate, Amanda (Brad) Dodson and Nicole Marshall; great grandson, Ford Choate; brother, Bud Doane, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty and Harold Weaver and Ken and Sue Marshall.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 11:00 a.m. at Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, with the Rev. Penelope Swartz officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
