Billie was my one of my all-time favorite nursing instructors at Michigan State University CON (I received my degree in 1992). I learned so much from her...not just academics, but of life and the importance of being a good person. What a warm, sweet, caring person she was. Godspeed, Billie!

You are my friend and my family and I will miss you so much. You made me love the nursing profession and you gave me confidence in myself. My fondest memories will be our trips to Stratford with Dottie and Jennifer and your trying to teach me to ski (but it was hopeless!). I know now the last ten years have been are at peace now and for that I am happy. Love Ellen

I had Billie for Peds for my first rotation in the hospital her first year at MSU and she was so encouraging that she set the stage for me...I worked my first several years in nursing in Peds. I know she helped many others on their way and will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.

We'd lost touch these last couple of years - my fault. I had a few health problems and pulled away from the world a bit. Nevertheless, you were always in my thoughts. I am tremendously sorry I didn't tell you that myself or have the chance to say goodbye. Thank you for "adopting me" and for being my stalwart champion. So much love, Your Actress

Another friend from CON has passed. Since I am living in NYC, I won't be able to attend the commemoration and celebration of Billie's life. I'll be there in my thoughts. It is great to read the tributes of some students.
With much love, Gaby

Billie was an icon at MSU CON. She inspired all of us as students. She is my unforgettable nursing professor and I will always remember her smile and her laugh.

To my dearest friend and mentor, I will miss you so very much. We shared so many great times over the past years from travel to sharing our special Christmas celebrations and much, much more. Thank you for all the memories, too numerous to count. There will be a void but you will always be in my thoughts. As I told you when I visited you just before you left us, I love you!!! Dot Basmaji

There are few people who have led such a full and dynamic life. May she find heaven to be as adventurous as all of her worldly travels, Jennifer, Jeff, Grace and Ava Thomson
