Billy J. Tucker, age 87, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, August 16th, 2019. Billy was preceded in death by Ruth Tucker, his wife of 57 years. Billy was born November 29th, 1931. He worked as a plumber and belonged to the Plumber and Pipefitter Local 333 Union for over fifty-five years.
Billy is survived by his children, Teri (Jim) Shaft, Sharon (Tim) Bennett, Sam (Jan) Tucker, Susan (Deb Thornton) Tucker, and Toby (Kim) Tucker. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Sarah, Broc, Jessica, Frank, April (Kent), Jake, Sami, Tyler, Piper, Max, and Charlie. Great Grandchildren; Jared, Conner, Brenden, and newly arrived Theodore.
He enjoyed using his skills to repair bicycles for children, and when he was not working on pipes or bikes, he spent time hunting for good garage sales. During his retirement years, his favorite activity was watching his grandkids play sports.
Billy was inducted in the Greater Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame for Bath High School 6-Man Football State Champions 1948 and 1949.
He will always be remembered by friends and family for his words of wisdom, encouragement and advice.
Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 1PM to 3PM and again from 5PM to 7PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave. in East Lansing.
