Bong shared over 61 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Choon-Hong Jeon. After getting married in Germany, they moved to Michigan, where they built a life and family together, rooted in love and resilience.
Bong-geun Jeon was a man of quiet strength and unwavering perseverance. His determination showed itself in his love for exercise; whether it was hiking, running, playing tennis, or simply going on long daily walks. No matter the weather or season, he found peace and purpose in staying active.
He also found deep joy in delicious food. Bong loved a good meal; from the hot Korean stews and soups lovingly prepared by his wife, to the ice cream shakes his grandchildren brought him. For him, food was never just food, it was comfort, care, and connection.
More than anything, though, Bong treasured being surrounded by those he loved. Bong-geun was the proud father of four children and grandfather to ten grandchildren, whom he raised with endless kindness, generosity, and gentle guidance. It wasn't uncommon for him to call everyone to the table so that the entire family was gathered, to share stories and laugh together over a meal. It was also rare that his grandchildren would leave his home without being fed to the brim and a pocket stuffed with allowance money. These were only some of the tokens of love that meant the world to us. Even without spoken words, we all felt his pride and love for us, in the way he looked at us, and in the way he made sure everyone was well-fed and cared for.
Bong is survived by his wife, Choon-Hong Jeon; children Rebecca Jeon (Jae Kim), Soogee Ahn (Tae Ahn), Sumin Kim (Will Kim), and Michael Jeon (Na Wu); and his grandchildren Jessica Kim, Lauren Kim, Tiffany Ahn, Isaac Ahn, Brandon Kim, Elyssa Ahn, Penelope Kim, Oliver Kim, Charlotte Jeon, and Alexander Jeon.
Through Bong's example, he taught us the value of hard work, the joy of life's simple pleasures, and what it means to always show up for family. With love in our hearts, we are certain he will continue to be the wind beneath our wings, guiding us through life every step of the way.
A funeral service for Bong will be held on Saturday April 26th at 1:00pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home located on 1730 E Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823. The family will begin receiving guests 1 hour prior. A luncheon will be held at Sansu Sushi and Cocktails located on 4750 Hagadorn Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823, following services.
