Carol Joan Wilson (Vervake) born the daughter of Albert Joseph Vervake and Irene Estelle Delaney on June 15, 1930; Carol died September 22, 2021 in Okemos, Michigan at the age of 91. She grew up throughout the US and Canada and studied piano at Indiana University in Bloomington and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a business degree from the University of Detroit. She was a devoted wife and mother who throughout her life gave to others and volunteered many years as a long-term companion and friend to seniors without families in the community.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband John Allan Wilson and daughter Patricia Wilson Abolt and survived by her son John (Sue) Wilson; daughters Marianne (Garry) Zimmerman and Teresa (Josip Sirkovich); and grandchildren John (Carène) Abolt, Charles Abolt (Randolph Wilhelm) and Carolyn Abolt (Devin Justice); John, James, Ellen, Matthew, and Elizabeth Wilson and Peter and Eric Sirkovich; nieces Gail Mestas, Nancy Miron, Sandy Miron and Julie Miron and nephew Gary Vervake.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 1 at 11: 00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, with the Fr. Michael Cassar officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 5:00-8:00 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing.
