Cecelia Mae Nuoffer

November 25, 1949June 22, 2020

Cecelia Mae Nuoffer, 70, of Gladwin Michigan (Sugar Springs), went to Heaven on June, 22nd with her children at her bedside.

She was born in Owosso, Michigan on November 25th, 1949. Cecelia graduated from Central Michigan University and received a Bachelor of Science in Business and Education. She later worked towards and obtained a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University.

Cecelia dutifully dedicated herself to the students of Baker College where she passionately taught for 40 years before retiring. Throughout the years she educated her students in Shorthand, Typing, Computers, and Business Administration courses.

She took her passion for teaching in a different direction after she was saved and dedicated her life to educating herself and her peers in the word of God, and her faith carried through and grew exponentially to the moment of her passing.

Retiring to the open arms of the gracious community of Sugar Springs allowed her to socialize, adopt and maintain new “friends forever” through her “Sugarcise” crew, Book club, The Gadabouts and her bible study group where she both served as leader and student. She was an active and committed member of Gladwin Cornerstone Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters Elizabeth Burns (Richard) & Jennifer Face (Brian); and her son Jonathon Nuoffer (Jennifer). She was known as Grandma CeCe to her beloved grandchildren; Ella(12), Evelyn(9), Jackson(7), Mack(4), Ryker(4), Edward(2), Maverick (2) and Wallace(1).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Niels Clair Pearce and Willamae Levera Clark Pearce, and her dear sister, Charmaine Beers. (Nieces Debbie Rogers & Sara Shell)

A memorial service will be held on Sunday June 28th 7:00PM at Sugar Springs Huntington Beach Club. Memorial contributions may be made to: Sugar Springs Memorial Committee in Cecelia’s name, c/o 5345 Huntington Way, Gladwin, MI 48624.

I am saddened by the loss of my friend and colleague, Cecelia. I taught with your Mother for 36 years at Baker College in the Office Administration division. When I retired in 2008, we would meet for lunch and share photos and stories of our children and grandchildren. Her love for her family and God were most important to her. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time. Cecelia was a blessing for all of us.

Ms. Nuoffer had inspired me to start my own Bible study at Baker College back in 2010. She let me call her Cece but I always called her Ms. Nuoffer. So not only was she my Bible Study Mentor and my Baker College of Flint Professor. She was the one who brought my husband and me, together in her Microsoft word class (other than God of course) and saw our relationship begin to blossom in June of 2013. We never made it up to Gladwin to see her after we got married in 2015 because life got busy and my husband and I started having kids. However, she will always be in my heart forever because she was an inspiration but now she can be an inspiration as she soars to Heaven to be with Jesus!

I am so sorry for your loss. When we met it was usually noisy loving family events. Cecelia always seemed so calm but quietly enjoying every moment watching her children. I found refuge in her company and we would sit and talk. Hearing of the love and care that surrounded Cecelia near the end of her life was evident as to her role as a Mother and beautiful human being. Thinking of you and your family. Mary Low

Dear Jennifer and Family,
Very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She seemed like such a wonderful lady - I see where you get it from! Keeping you and yours in my prayers and my heart.

Where do I begin...so many memories over the years of our friendship. Dozens of Scrabble games, dozens of movies, dozens of times eating out somewhere, so many interesting discussions around the dinner table in my parents' dining room, so many church services, and one heck of an adventure on Lake Michigan one time that we were lucky to survive! Through it all, you were always a kind and encouraging presence. When we thought we were going to lose my mom while she was in the hospital in Flint, you were there, by her side and let me cry on your shoulder. When you said you were praying, I knew you really were. I'm so sad that now that I just got back to Michigan, we won't be able to sit down for a Scrabble match and a chat. But I know you and Sherry are having a grand old time in heaven. She's probably giving you a hard time about something, and I know that once and for all, you are surrounded by dozens and dozens - thousands, and maybe even millions of angels!! (an inside joke - Cece used to tease Char/Sherry a lot about Char/Sherry's tendency to use hyperbolic numbers when describing things). Most of all, Cece, thank you for being such a wonderful friend to me and my family. You were like family to us, and we all have so many memories to cherish in our hearts always. Goodbye friend, for now. I will miss you very much.

CeCe was such a sweet & tender soul. We loved teasing each other at Sugarcize. She’ll be truly missed not only by me but by so many others that she considered her friends.

Had breakfast on Wednesday’s at the Camp with Cecelia. Always brought a book to read until we could all get there. She ordered the same thing each time . The wait staff would bring her beverage as soon as she walked in. They knew her as a regular. Such a gentle soul. Her temperament was so calming, a great way to start your day, was to have breakfast with Cecelia. Will miss her.
