Cheryl Kay Benthem, born August 30, 1949, passed away at her home in Okemos, Michigan in the arms of her husband, Roger Benthem on January 31, 2025; just 3 months before their 55th wedding anniversary. They were married in Kalamazoo (the home of her birth) on April 25, 1970.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Glenora Adams. She is survived by her husband, Roger Benthem; children, Alicia Benthem, her husband, Tom Trevarrow, Brian Benthem, his wife, Jammie Benthem, their children, Luke Benthem and sister Sally Nook.
Cheryl was a graduate of Western Michigan University and used her degree to pursue a career as a Medical Technologist. She left that career with the birth of her first child (Alicia) so she could be a full-time mother to her and her second child, Brian. This was typical of her life, where she always put them and her husband first before her needs. She was a long-time member of the River Terrace Christian Church, where she loved singing in the choir and attending Bible studies groups. She was also involved with several service groups within the church.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the RIver Terrace Church, 1509 River Terrace, East Lansing, MI 48823. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service. The family will have a private graveside service following the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
The service will be live streamed and can be viewed at the following:
