Clara Barbara Kitzinger

Holt, Michigan

Age 100, Born February 21, 1911 to Carl and Clara Schroeder of Bay City, passed away December 31, 2011 in Lansing. Clara received her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching from Central Michigan University in 1934. She was married 41 years to Michigan State Police Officer, Russell Kitzinger, who died in 1982. Clara was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Mary Martha Circle. She formerly lived in St. Joseph, MI and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Clara was dearly loved by her family, her church family, her Heritage Village family, her many relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband; step-daughter, Audrey Fox; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne (Russell) Hecko of Williamston and Barbara “Lashoma” of Santa Monica, California; 4 grandchildren, Jodi (Paul) McConnell of Perry, Brian Hecko of Chandler, AZ, Christina (Scott) Nelson of North Branch and David (Robin) Bork of Rochester Hills; 7 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Andrew and Johnathon McConnell, Wesley and Kylee Hecko and Kyle and Kimberley Nelson; 2 step-great grandchildren, Tricia (Shawn) Alpers and Annette Haas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4001 S. Pennsylvania, Lansing with the Rev. Michael C. Bater officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing. Memorial contributions in Clara’s memory may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or Holt Heritage Village, 5075 Willoughby Rd, Holt, MI 48842.
