

Curtis was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 13, 1980, to Randy Disher and Cheri Poling Disher. Curtis grew up in Toledo, Ohio and attended the Apostolic Christian Academy. While he attended there, he was on the flag football team and basketball team, called the ACA Conquerors. He competed in several ACTS (Apostolic Teacher and Students Conventions) with other private schools in writing, singing, speech, art and sports categories. He moved to Michigan in his early 20s, where he remained with his wife and children.
Curtis married the love of his life, Kimberly Jo VanBlaricom on February 27, 2016, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing, Michigan. Curtis was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lansing, Michigan and a former member of the First Apostolic Church in Toledo, Ohio. Curtis was a very hard-working man and spent most of his employment working in steel factories to provide for his wife and children.
Curtis was an amazing, loyal, and loving husband. He was also a wonderful father, not only to his own children but to those he embraced as his own, always offering love, guidance, and support. He was an avid Ohio State fan and rarely missed watching a football game. He enjoyed fishing, writing, road trips, rock hunting and camping with his family and friends. Curtis had a larger-than-life personality and had the ability to instantly brighten anyone’s day. He had an infectious smile, killer wit, and a wonderful sense of humor. Most of all, Curtis had a deep, fierce love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Kimberly VanBlaricom. His children; Kenzie Disher, Larrisa Disher, Mackenzie VanBlaricom, Nathan VanBlaricom, Keegan Moubray, Kearah Moubray. Parents; Randy Disher and Cheri Poling Disher. Grandparents; Shirley Loofbrow, James “Poppy” Thompson. Siblings; Steve (Jessica) Disher, BreeAnn (David) Kelly, Whitney Disher (Freddie Noel), Austin (Elyssa) Disher. Curtis was a loving and proud Uncle to his nieces Micaylah Disher, Addison Zacharias, Bella Noel, and twin nephews Alexander and Nicklas Noel who he lovingly referred to as his “Disher Mafia” with a recent addition of Winston Disher, who was able to meet his uncle before he passed. His beloved aunts and uncles; James (Rosal) Thompson Jr., Kimberly (Alan) Spillman, Rebecca Thompson, Rachel “Shorty” (Gary) Kufel, Daniel Thompson, Raelynn (Michael) Simpson, Terry Disher, Steve Loofborow, and Tom (Fran) Salpietro. Curtis had many cousins he grew up with that he was very close to and loved dearly. Curtis is also survived by his spouses’ side of the family, father and mother in-law; Thomas and Lori VanBlaricom. Sister in-laws; Kae (Michael) Buck, Kelle (James) Shaw. Sister by heart; Daina (Jamaal) Perkins. Nieces and nephews; Chandler Buck, Allison Buck, Jacub (Ariana) Shaw, Joshua Shaw, Jamie Shaw, Jennah Shaw. Curtis is preceded in death by David Poling (Uncle), Robert Loofborow (Grandpa), Raymond Disher (Grandpa), and Dorothy “Dottie” Thompson (Grandma).
Visitation services will be held from 5-8pm on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823. The funeral will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing MI 48906, with an hour visitation proceeding the service with a luncheon to follow.
