Dar joined the United States Army in 1943 and retired from the United States Air Force in 1969, 26 years of service. After retiring from his military service, he developed, designed and bought equipment for the Airframe and Powerplant program at Lansing Community College. Dar enjoyed all things related to aviation.
He is survived by son, Keith and Dawn (Moyer) Gibbs, grandchildren Amanda and Bradley Gibbs, sister Evelyn Wethy, nieces and nephews, Susan McCarthy, Doug (Ilene) Beers, Gordon Simmons, Donna Kimmel, and his beloved John (LuAnn) Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Beers, and wife Jeanne (Massey) Gibbs.
