David Paul Fry Bath, MI

Born September 9, 1953 to Emil and Frances (Koch) Fry, passed away after a short illness on April 19, 2013.

He was a member of the Hillsdale High School class of 1971 and a graduate of Michigan State University majoring in Building Construction Management. After graduation, Dave worked briefly in construction in West Virginia. He began his realty career in Hillsdale, Michigan in 1978 and relocated to the Lansing/ Bath area in 1982 where he became a well known and respected realtor. He and his wife, Paula, served the community as owners of Dave Fry Realty.

Dave loved his family and the many outdoor activities he engaged in with family and friends; backpacking, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, biking, and cross country skiing.

Dave was a kind and gentle man who loved to farm. His perfect day would be awakening to the songs of the birds, tilling the soil in his garden, and planting his crop. Dave loved to tenderly care and watch his garden grow; harvest time brought a special joy. A summer’s night gathering of friends at the campfire to sample the day’s pick of sweet corn, was his evening of choice. He will be sorely missed for the richness that he brought to the lives of all he knew. He was deeply loved.

He was a member of the Haslett Community Church and the Greater Lansing Association of Realtors.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Emil Miller Fry. Surviving to cherish his memory are Paula (Somerville) Fry, his wife of 29 years; children, Nathan (Danielle), Anna, and Chris; grandchild, Lucca. He is also survived by his mother, Frances (Koch) Fry and siblings John (Andrea) Fry, Linda (Ivan) Fedosuk, and Ruth (Ed) Lape. Surviving in-laws include Jay and Vera Somerville, Pam (Jim) Omlor, and Roger Somerville. Several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews survive.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 5589 VanAtta Rd., Haslett, Michigan, with the Rev. Kurt Kirchoff officiating. Interment will be at Rose Cemetery, Bath. Have always known 'of' Dave for years and years (growing up in the area) - poked my head into an open house where he had a house on the market and inquired about a rental-before that he let us in to see the house that my mother was raised in so many years ago- we weren't prospective buyers- just travelling back through time to get a rare glimpse to match mom's childhood stories of growing up on 'the farm' - for the past 5 yrs I've gotten to know him and his family- the generosity, kindness and love they have for life and the people they deal with on a day to day basis- Rare and special these qualities are in life- so blessed I have been- Much peace and love for the coming days to all of his family- God Bless
