Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; children, Nicole (David) Watson, Derek, and Nathan (Emily); father Sherman and his step-mother Mary; siblings, Sherman (Corrine), Jeff (Penny), Joel (Joanne); four granddaughters Cora, Ruby, Violet and Penelope; and two grandsons Cameron and Oliver. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Martha.
Dennis was born on January 19, 1958 in Hammond, IN to Sherman and Martha. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1981 with a degree in Business. He received his Masters of Divinity in 2010 from Michigan Theological Seminary. His passion was coaching and encouraging pastors and people involved in the ministry. He enjoyed cycling, hiking, gardening, reading, and pizza. He coached high school baseball and was dedicated to the Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers. He will be remembered as a man who sought not only to teach others, but also to learn from them. His love for God grew greater through the years as his relationship grew deeper.
A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, November 17 at Trinity Church (3355 Dunckel Rd, Lansing, MI), with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until service time. Pastor Jessie Still will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dennis' life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sparrow Hospice and the H.O.P.E. Prayer Room East Lansing (Spirit of Christ Church). The family would like to thank hospice nurse David Torgoff for his kindness and care of Dennis and the family during this time.
