Diane Marie (Bieke) Goeddeke Bath

Diane passed to her eternal reward at home on December 27, 2012, at the age of 72.

Born in Detroit, Michigan to Daniel A. Bieke, Jr. and Susan “Sylvia” McPhail on December 9, 1940, Diane was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and two brothers, and leaves a sister and two brothers to mourn her passing, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She was an accomplished and welcoming homemaker who made good friends easily. A member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church for over 42 years, Diane was a woman of deep faith and firm convictions whose beautiful blue eyes could spit fire if you crossed her or her children. She was a strong Pro-Life advocate, and devoted many years to both local and statewide activism in pursuit of protection for the unborn, until ill health forced her to give up that mission, but never the cause.

Married in Detroit, MI on November 26, 1960, she is survived by her grateful and loving husband of 52 years, Francis X. Goeddeke. Also surviving are sons, Francis X., Jr., Ph.D. currently of Ulaan Bataar, Mongolia with the Peace Corps, Steven D. (Michelle) of Midland, MI; favorite daughter, Jill M. (Daniel) McKerr of Lansing, MI; sons, Joseph G. (Robin) of Livonia, MI, Andrew G. (Elizabeth) of Lansing, MI and Kenneth G. (Laura) of Houston, TX.

The fortunate grandchildren of “Grandma Boo” are Dr. Steven, DC and Mia Goeddeke, both of Grand Rapids, MI, Shaelon Goeddeke of Raleigh, NC, Tanner Gilles of Midland, MI, Daniel, Jr., Patrick, Katherine, Joseph, Kevin and Michael McKerr, all of Lansing, Jacob and Adam Goeddeke, of Livonia, MI Alexandra, Olivia and Andrew Goeddeke, of Lansing and Gabriela and Matthew Goeddeke of Houston, TX.

Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing on Sunday, December 30, from 4-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Anthony Strouse and Rev. Larry Delaney on Monday, December 31, 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing.

The family wishes to thank the caring members of Heartland Hospice of Mason, MI for their professional services these last few months. In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane’s memory can be made to Lansing Catholic High School Heritage Campaign, 301 N. Marshall St., Lansing, MI 48912, or to Right to Life of Michigan Educational Fund, 2340 Porter St., SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49509 (or On line condolences may be made at
