

Born November 20, 1922 to Frank and Alice Waldron, Donald “Tony” Waldron, Sr. died October 25, 2010 at the age of 87. Tony was preceded in death by his wife Verlene (Bertie) of 57 years, and his sisters Dorothy Abare and Marie Blend. He is survived by his brother Robert (Bernice); his children Meganne (Keith) McCardel, Jill Waldron, Donald (Lesley) Waldron, Jr., and Ann (Pat) Dawson; his eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Tony graduated from MSU in 1948 where he was the starting point guard for the basketball team for three years and where he also was a Varsity letter winner in football and tennis. During WWII he served his country in the U.S. Navy Air Corp. Tony spent his career working in various high schools in Michigan including his last 19 years (1969-1988) where he was the principal at Haslett High School. His strong, persuasive personality, tempered with his compassion, sense of fairness and everyone deserves a second chance philosophy, positively impacted the lives of many of his students. Tony was a devoted father who will be remembered for his humble and optimistic attitude, his desire to do what he could do to support others and his passion for golf.
