My pop ( Tom Dubyne) taught at Haslett High for 45 years, many of which Tony was principal for. I remember the day my father told me he was a basketball star at MSU and a former Naval Aviator. I also remember Tony being firm but fair. “Fair winds and following seas” to a fellow sailor and Naval Aviator.

Myself and my four younger sisters all had the priviledge of having Tony Waldron as our principal. From the class of 1971 to the class of 1975, there was a Silas to learn a thing or two from Mr. Waldron. The only time I ever skipped school, he happened to be driving down that very same road as I was. He just pointed back in the direction of the school. The talk we had in his office just confirmed what I already knew- kind, fair, compassionate. You will be greatly missed.

There was never a better principal or friend.  It is the work of only a moment to bring Mr. Waldron's face and voice to mind.  As senior class president in 1978-79 it was my my job to meet with Mr. Waldron regularly particularly when any practical jokes were played (Darren, Andy, Erik--you know who you are).  He mentioned in one meeting that one of his favorite songs was the Four Lads version of "Moments to Remember"  and he wondered why no one sang it anymore.   Senior vocal ensemble members obtained the lyrics and sang it for him that year--over the years i've often had occasion to remember this song and always thing of Mr. Waldron when I do.  As long as I have memories, I will hold him in my heart.  My condolences to the family. We are sorry for your loss, and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.  We got to know Tony when visiting our parents at Bickford, Randy & Margaret Randolph (Mom died 8-29-2010).  Dad and Tony used to 'chum and visit' with each other periodically in the common areas. When we met Tony at Bickford, we thought his name and face was 'familiar' to us, and we finally put the pieces together when we read his newspaper obituary - three of us attended Grand Ledge High School when he was there as Assistant Principal.  What a small world, to have our paths cross again in friendship many times during the past 1.5 years at Bickford.  Again, our sympathies to Tony's family.

I was Tony's secretary when he was athletic director at Grand Ledge High School.  I just retired from Grand Ledge after 43 years as athletic secretary and have fond memories of working with him if only for one year. Once we were having a conference track meet at Waverly high school.  He drove us in a little blue car and he and Phil Marazita walked to the opposite side of the track.  At one point he motioned for me to drive the car to that end of the track.  He kept motioning me to come and finally I got out and hollered that I could not drive a stick.  He was frustrated, but walked all the way back and moved the car.  I will remember his patience and his love for his family.

I only knew him as "Uncle Don" so I love reading all these wonderful posts about him in his professional world. Makes me proud to have been related to him. Thanks for taking the time to post.

I remember Mr Waldron as a class act mentor who really cared for the kids in our school. I had to go "visit" him a few times, and he always steered me right by making me want to be a better person.

Years have past since I have seen Tony Waldron or his family.  I remember him as a very caring man, devoted to his family and profession. Please express my condolences to his family.

Tony was a great man and a superb school administrator.  Many times during my tenure as a high school principal I would ask myself, "What would Tony do?". His compassion for young people and his passion for education left it's mark on myself and many other Haslett High School alumni.

Tony and I both started at Haslett High School in 1969.  It was my first teaching job and I always thought I was extremely lucky to have him as my first principal.  He was a very good person who always thought of the students first.  A lot of people are fortunate that they had the privilege of knowing him.

Tony Waldron was a very special person, dedicated educator and a wonderful friend.  I worked with him at Haslett High School and together we started the Alternative Education Program.  He was so concerned about these kids who were good kids but just didn't like school.  This program helped many to graduate and to become contributing members of society.  He was caring and interested in ALL the students at Haslett High.  I also worked with the Cheerleaders and he was so supportive to me!  The world has lost a special person who cared but didn't want people to know he did!  Sincere sympathy and prayers to his family.

He was a good man and a great role model. I am glad to have known him and have him as a positive influence in my life. So sorry for you loss.  He will be missed by many.

My condolences to the family. I remember Mr. Waldron as a caring, kind person who believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself! I still can picture him and his smile! I guess I got to know him well with all of my trips to the Principal's office.

To the family of Mr. Waldron...my thoughts are with you.  It has been many years, but Mr. Waldron was always a very kind and caring person.  I have many memories of him from my high school years.

A kind and Classy Man with a great sense of humor.  He was always quick to help out the kid who forgot his lunch money.   When I think of Haslett High I like to think of Tony Waldron.

Mr. Waldron retired from Haslett in 1988 with my graduating class. We made him an honorary member of our class. He always had a kind word, an encouragement, a smile for his students. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Waldron was a kind, patient and very caring person...exactly what a principal should be!  I enjoyed talking with him, I learned lasting lessons from him and I will always remember him fondly.  My sympathies to his family and friends.

I remember Mr. Waldron as a person who really cared for people. His humor with me about sports, school, or what ever left a lasting impression on me. There are few principals like him left today. Thank you for being Mr. Waldron, my principal. My condolences to the family.
