Doris H. Bauer

Doris was born March 5, 1926 in Lansing, Michigan and died Sunday October 18, 2015. Doris was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Lansing in 1944 and continued her education at Michigan State University where she received an undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Bacteriology and was a proud member of the Alpha Zeta Delta Sorority. After graduation Doris was employed by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, the State of Michigan Health Department and spent her last 43 years of employment at Michigan State University as a Biochemist. Doris resided in Okemos, Michigan and was a member of Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church. She was a Master Gardener and her first love was working in her yard with her flowers. She had several volunteer positions, with the most significant being the 30 years she spent at Sparrow Hospital. Doris was preceded in death by her Father, Alvey; Mother, Mildred; Brother, Donald; Sister, Lorene Waddell; 1 brother-in-law, Byron Waddell; 1 nephew, Ronald Waddell. Surviving are 2 brothers, James Bauer of Lansing, and Ray (Barbara) Bauer of Oklahoma City, OK; 6 nieces, 3 nephews, and numerous great nieces and great nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 22nd at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI. and 1 hour prior to service at the church. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes.
