Dorothy Irene Bell, 88, was called home to meet her Savior on May 31, 2018. She was born July 18, 1929, the youngest of four children of Ray and Mae (Morrison) Allen of Mayville. While still in high school, she met the love of her life, Dwight Bell of Lansing and they were married May 27, 1949. This marriage endured for 69 years. After marriage, she worked at Michigan Millers Insurance Company for 15 years until the birth of her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brothers Wade, Donald and Richard Allen.
She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Susan (Phil) Race; grandchildren, Nathan, Morgan and Austin of Hudsonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Most of her married life was spent in the Lansing and Okemos areas until moving with her husband to a retirement community in Jenison last summer. She was a long-time member of South Church in Lansing and an associate member of Community Bible Church at Strongs, MI, near the family cottage at Piatt Lake.
Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday June 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Williamston, 3185 N Williamston Rd, Williamston, MI with visitation immediately preceding at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Summit Cemetery, Williamston.
