Dorothy was born on May 26, 1939, in Crystal Lake Township, Benzie County, Michigan, to Florian and Hazel (Small) Bishop. She graduated from Frankfort High School and, on December 14, 1957, married the love of her life, Lyle L. Johnson, in Benzie County, Michigan. Together they made their home in Williamston, Michigan, where they welcomed their only daughter, Deborah Ann, on March 20, 1959.
Throughout her life, Dorothy lived in several places she called home, including Phoenix, Arizona; Traverse City, Michigan; and later Phoenix once again. She retired from Wells Fargo Bank before moving to Lansing, Michigan, and eventually settling in San Antonio, Texas.
Dorothy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She cherished spending time with family and friends, enjoyed reading, and loved playing the piano both at home and in church. She was also known for her enjoyment of Rummikub, her warm sense of humor, and the laughter she shared with those around her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Hazel Bishop; her beloved husband, Lyle Johnson; and her daughter, Deborah Ann Johnson, who passed away in February 2021 in San Antonio, Texas.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Cheryl Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy's family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace and reunited with her Lord and Savior, as well as the loved ones who have gone before her.
Dorothy will be laid to rest in East Lawn Memory Gardens next to her beloved husband. Service details will be announced by the family.
