Dorothy Ann Wenger, born Dec. 25, 1929 to her parents, Richard Carl Krieger and Ida Dorothea (Albers) of Mason City, IA, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rev. Dr. Victor Wenger. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene (Ileta), and Rolland (Pat is still living), and is survived by her sister, Gretchen (Del) Sparks and brother, Dennis (Diana).
Dorothy went to business school in Mason City for secretarial training, but then later attended Wartburg College of Waverly, IA where she met Victor. They were married 6/11/1954 and their honeymoon was travelling to Vic’s internship site of Epiphany Lutheran in Toledo, OH. Together they had four children, Deborah (William) Granger of Rockford, MI, Mark (Polly) Wenger of Maple Grove, MN, Rev. James (Nancy) Wenger of Bowling Green, OH, and Joel (Trish) Wenger of Atlanta, GA. She had 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was the consummate homemaker and supportive pastor’s wife. Special thanks to all the staff and support services of Burcham Hills Retirement Community of East Lansing where Dottie lived for 7 years on the memory care floor.
Memorials can be made to either Burcham Hills Foundation or Wartburg Theological Seminary of Dubuque, IA.
Interment will be at St. John Lutheran of Albert City, IA post pandemic.
The family will have a Zoom memorial for immediate family Nov. 28.
