Douglas D. Hershey, age 64, born July 6, 1947 in Kalamazoo, Michigan went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 19, 2012 after a 5 year courageous battle with throat cancer.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of over 34 years of marriage, Laura Hershey; parents, Lowell and Lillian Hershey; siblings, Linda (Kit) Lirot, Raymond (Julie) Hershey, Jonathon (Sally) Hershey and Robert (Sue) Hershey; sister-in-law, Lea Cummins; 13 nieces and nephews; 6 great nieces and nephews; and former brother-in-law, Mark Cummins. Doug was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, John and Louis Kapps.

Doug owned Douglas Hershey Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning for over 35 years. He made many friends in his clientele due to his high integrity and generous loving spirit. Doug was a Michigan State University graduate, an avid music lover, playing guitar and singing in many bands throughout his life. He was loved for his quick-witted humor and being the life of the party. Doug was a strong Christian who treasured family gatherings and time spent with friends. He was an avid dog lover, who adored his loving dogs, Louie and Lexi.

Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd., Lansing on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Alan Cullen officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
