Mrs. Welling will be greatly missed. My family moved to Mason when I was halfway through first grade and I was lucky enough to get in her class. I was very shy and my parents were sure I would come home crying. When I got off the bus, I couldn't wait to tell my mom and dad about how much I loved my teacher! Mrs. Welling, as she will always be known by me, was loving and kind and made me want to be a teacher just like her. After high school, I did earn my teaching degree and strived to be as loving and kind as her. We exchanged Christmas cards every year and even as her eyesight deteriorated, she always made sure to send me one. I will always cherish those! I was excited to see Mrs. Welling at the YMCA last year. We hugged and cried a little. It was so special to see her again. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to know Mrs. Welling. I will treasure my memories of her always.
