Eileen Ruth Schmitts

Don’t cry because she’s gone, smile because she was here. She went to be with God on July 6, 2022. She gave of herself to her family and countless others. Eileen Ruth (Hodgson) Schmitts was born in Winn, MI on November 13, 1928 to Williard (Whitey) Hodgson and Margaret (Wagley) Hodgson. Eileen grew up in Lansing and had been a resident there for the last forty years. She is proceeded in death by her parents, daughter Karla, brother Norman Hodgson and husband Charles Schmitts. She is survived by daughter, Julie Schmitts (Ted Howard), foster daughter Pam Hankins Huffer (Dan) and various nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Potter Park Methodist Church and worked for the Mole Hole. She loved designing and making arts and crafts gifts for family and friends.

A visitation from will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM for Eileen on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
