She was born August 31, 1931, in Plainville, Connecticut, daughter of Marion and Austin Lathrop, sister of Lucille, Ellsworth, and Jonathan. For 67 years she was the wife of Robert Anderson. She was the mother of Rondi, David, and twins lost at birth. She was the grandmother of Shakti, Austin, and Alexandra.
Elizabeth received a BA in home economics from Boston University after transferring from Syracuse University. She earned an MFA in art history from Michigan State University and taught for 20 years at Lansing Community College.
She was a member of Edgewood United Church, a world traveler, a ballroom and improvisational dancer, an artist, a flautist, and a pianist. She volunteered in nursing homes and for children’s art programs. She protested war, racism, bigotry, and environmental destruction. She designed her own clothing and wove rags into tapestries.
The family thanks her cherished friends and caregivers for their loving kindness.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, january 8, 2022 at Edgewood United Church, 469 N. Hagadorn Road, East Lansing, MI 48823. A zoom link will also be provided for those unable to attend.
Elizabeth has been part of the Happendance family for decades. She was instrumental in starting the "Ageless Dancer" class at Happendance, and she supported many ageless dancers herself.

Elizabeth Anderson Scholarship Fund
Starting immediately, two dancers will receive the Elizabeth Anderson Scholarship to attend the Ageless Dancer Class at Happendance, Inc. for an entire year (which normally costs $720 each).
This class is taught by Diane Newman, the Founder of Happendance.
