Elizabeth "Bettie" Arlene Hanses

Elizabeth "Bettie" Arlene Hanses, a long-time resident of the Lansing area, passed peacefully into the Lord's realm on Sunday, April 3rd. She was 97 years old. Bettie was born in Lansing on March 25, 1919. She was an active member of her parish, St. Thomas Aquinas, East Lansing, as a member of St. Catherine's Guild and the Rosary Altar Society. She also volunteered her time as an Election Administrator and the East Lansing Senior Center until she was no longer physically able to do so. She will be deeply missed by all she touched. Bettie is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Anthony Hanses. Surviving children are Peter Hanses (Christine), Paul Hanses, Marilyn Hanses-Shroeger, Marlene Hanses (Todd Climie), and Philip Hanses (Alane). Surviving Grandchildren are Brian Hanses (Hitomi), Mark Hanses (Rachel), Lisa Hanses, Nick Shroeger (Kelsey), Katie Shroeger, Nate Shroeger, and Lauren Hanses. Surviving Great Grandchildren are Elizabeth Dema Hanses & Dasheill Harlan Hanses (Mark & Rachel). The Funeral Mass of the Dead will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing on Monday, April 11th at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin in the Church Sanctuary at 10 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass.
