G. Bob Robert Shipman

Holt, Michigan

Born November 9, 1925 to George F. and Jessie M. Shipman, passed away February 22, 2011 in Holt at the age of 85. Bob was a man of great faith and was a long time member of Olivet Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Bob retired from the State of Michigan, Dept. of Health where he worked as a Medical Social Work Consultant. He was a Boy Scout Troop 2 Scoutmaster. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, travel, music and spending time with his family. He was a magnificent singer, wood carver and artist. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife, Helen “Chris” Shipman; children, Robert (Marianne) Shipman, Brother Stephen Shipman, Timothy Shipman and Christie Shipman Tobey (Daniel McNeil); 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 26, 11:00 a.m. at Olivet Baptist Church, 5455 W. Willoughby Rd., Lansing, MI 48911with Pastor Ed Owens officiating. The family will greet visitors at the church 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Olivet Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, 310 N. Main, Ste 100, Chelsea, MI 48118.
