Gary was the love of my life.  We both loved nature and teaching children.  Gary and I did a lot of traveling together to many Civil War sites, to visit family and friends, to the U.P. to spend time at the cabin, and to see eclipses of the sun.  When we had to be away from each other, we always connected by going outside and looking at the moon at the same time.  We also enjoyed showing his bug collections to children who were so intrigued with them.  My most favorite memory of him was when he went outside with the children during recess time, and led them on an adventure to find bugs.  These children followed him like he was the mama duck, and they were the little ducklings following behind him.  The children were drawn to his kindness and calmness and wanted to be just like him.  When he had a stroke in December of 2017,  Gary received over 200 cards from his students at Wexford Elementary School, where he taught science and technology.  The love from his students and colleagues were  expressed in their pictures and writing.  My heart will be forever broken now that he is gone.  I loved him with all of my heart.  My only regret is that we didn't have more time together.  I was looking forward to being with him more now that I am retired.   I thank God for the ten wonderful years we had together, and know I will be with him again in heaven.
