George William Wright, 70, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 in Lansing, Michigan. Born February 9, 1948 to George C. and Mary (VanAtta) Wright in Lansing, George graduated from Haslett High School, served proudly in the Army in both Vietnam and Korea, and retired from the Lansing Board of Water and Light after many years of service. His passion in life was cars, and he could fix, diagnose, and build anything. He enjoyed restoring old cars and participated for many years in the Mid-Michigan Street Rod Association, even serving as a past president. His expertise and infectious enthusiasm for cars will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Wright; his children, Steven (Eryka) Wright and Stacy (Kevin) Gibbs; his step-children, Pamela Bennett and Stacy (Geoff) Wiersma; his 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; his brother, James Wright; and his sisters, Deborah Parks and Linda Dubberley.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 17 at 11am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 5589 Van Atta Rd in Haslett. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service and on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 1pm until 4pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church or a charity of one’s choice.
