Hallie Maude Foster Lewis

Hallie M. Lewis passed away peacefully on February 10, 2011, at the age of 97. She was born in 1913 in Downing, MO, the daughter of Jesse and Myra Foster. She spent most of her adult life in Colorado Springs, CO, where in 1933 she met her husband of 63 years, the late Charles Lewis. In 1990, they moved to Michigan to be close to their daughter, Trena (John) Thornburg of Okemos. In addition to Trena, she is survived by granddaughters, Courtney

Thornburg (Agustin Calatroni) of Durham, NC and Cassie Thornburg (Jason Hatfield) of Pocatello, ID. She was affectionately known as “GG” to great-granddaughters Cecilia, Sofia, Ruby and Hazel. Hallie was preceded in death by her sister, Vallie Walters; brothers, Clarence, Victor, and Raymond Foster. In addition to being a homemaker, Hallie served as secretary for several ministers at the First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 23 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Fred Graham and Rev. Margie Osborn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1315 Abbot Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823 or Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Cochran Rd., Charlotte, MI 48813. The family is served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing.
