

He grew up in Detroit and Highland Park. He graduated Cum Laude from Cooley High School. He enrolled in The US Merchant Marine Academy and graduated as a Deck Officer with a Commission in The US Naval Reserve in February 1944. He sailed as a Deck Officer on tank and cargo ships on most oceans during World War II. Harry married Mary Lewis McFadden in the summer of 1944 at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Detroit. He graduated from The University of Michigan Business School with a BBA and an MBA.
He became a Michigan Certified Public Accountant. Mary Lewis gave birth to three fine children. She died on March 1961 of cancer. Harry worked in Public Accounting, for Chrysler and the University of Michigan. He married Ruth Elsa Moon Ash in 1968. In 1970 the family moved to Lansing where Harry worked for Northstar Cooperative and retired after 22 years at age 70½. During his working career he was President of the local chapters of the Institute of Management Accountants and the Association of Systems Managers. After retirement he became a small Business counselor with SCORE. Harry will be remembered by his strong and devoted love for his family.
Survived by his children: James (Jennifer), Beth (Bruce), and John; grandchildren Marie and Benjamin Revers, and David, Anna (Bartosz) and Deborah Wasson; and great-grandchildren Sean, Lena, and Sara.
A visitation for Harry will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Deepdale Memorial Park in Lansing, Michigan.
