

She was born in Albion, Michigan on November 21, 1948, the daughter of Imogene Wright Spurlock and Grover Cleveland Spurlock.
Haven attended Lansing Everett High School and Lansing Community College.
She married her high school sweetheart, Michael L. Strobel. Together, they were parents of twins, a boy, Shannon M. Strobel, and a girl, Shellie M. Strobel.
Sadly, Haven, Shannon, and Shellie lost Michael Strobel at age 60 on May 30, 2008, from a brain tumor.
On May 24th of this year Shannon Strobel passed at age 55 from cardiac arrest.
Haven was a talented musical artist and published song writer. She was a touring charted recording artist who performed under the name Darlene Michaels.
Later, Haven was a successful businesswoman who with her daughter, Shellie, owned and operated an adult foster care facility, Home Sweet Home of Haslett, MI. Haven sold this business and retired in 2020.
Haven was sought out by many for her insightful, wise and common-sense council. She was a generous and a loving soul.
Haven is survived by her second husband, Dr. C. Douglas McDaniel, DC; daughter Shellie M. Finn (Paul Finn); grandson Connor S. Finn; granddaughter McKenna S. Finn; stepson Timothy P. McDaniel (Tomasina McDaniel); stepdaughter Carmel L. Kenan; 3 step granddaughters Ada Kenan, Sofia McDaniel and Nina McDaniel, and sister Vicki Loveall.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00pm at Locke Township Hall, 3805 Bell Oak Rd. Williamston, MI 48895.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 West Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906
