Dear Comstock Family,  I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.  I too lost my daughter in a car accident. She was one of the teenagers killed in the accident in Fowlerville the summer of 2003 where 4 teens lost their lives.  I share in this grief with you as the loss of a child is unimaginable.  I now facilitate a grief support group for parents who have lost a child.  I hope I can be of some help to you in the near future.  I pray that God's presence and comfort surround you at this time.

I had the pleasure of meeting your daughter when I found her IDs in Ann Arbor on the sidewalk.  She was very thankful and soooooo happy, because she looked for them for hours.  When we spoke on the phone, she was absolutely ecstatic and even said "I'm going to marry you" in a joking way.  When I met Heather to give her back her IDs, I absolutely fell in love with her because she was sooooo cute and had a certain charm about her.  I wish I had made more efforts to befriend her and more importantly, somehow warn her about the 10-10-10 tragedy.  I feel as though I rescued Heather once, but could not rescue her again...terrible feeling.  
  I also have a suggestion--I was driving today on U.S 23 and passed by the spot where the tragedy had occurred, however I did not find any markers.  My suggestion is to palace a small cross on US 23, where the accident occurred to honor Heather and the other victims.
Lastly continue to have positive thoughts and dreams about Heather and I'm sure you can even communicate with her in those dreams, if you try hard
enough.

Like everyone else, I am at loss for words and like everyone else, I am overcome by the loss of Heather.  She is a jewel among jewels, an inspiration and a joy.  May God Bless You All.

My memories of Heather are filled with her quick wit and her warmth for others. I currently am traveling in New England and cannot attend the services but yesterday I was at the home of Robert Frost and sat at the table where he wrote "Stopping by  Woods on a Snowy Evening," and I was overwhelmed with the memories of Heather and her discussion of that poem- she so had a love of Nature and for life. Her contributions to the newspaper in her writings showed her depth but also her love of humanity. My thoughts are with you the family and her classmates-she was a person who lived her life fully and made a difference in this world and with me. I truely will miss her yet I know God has a special place for such a vibrant light though taken too soon.
