H. Lorraine “Kayo” Marvin Sharp. Daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John E. and Alma O’Conner Marvin was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 24, 1925. She passed away December 22, 2010 at the age of 85.
A graduate of Albion College, she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and Theta Alpha Pi. She retired from the Michigan Public School System after 33 years of teaching English and speech. Following retirement she and her husband moved to Athens, Georgia where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class; the University Woman’s Club, P.E.O., Colonial Dames XVII Century and Learning in Retirement. She returned to live in Michigan in 2005 and was a member of P.E.O. Chapter AG in Lansing and attended the Haslett Community Church.
Kayo was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lynn Edwin Marvin. She is survived by her husband, Dr. A. Jefferson Sharp, whom she married on July 31, 1948 in Adrian, Michigan. Also surviving are their daughter, Susan Elizabeth Sharp-Korte and her husband, Dr. Robert C. Korte Jr.; two grandsons, Benjamin Sharp Korte and David Charles Korte of Haslett; one brother Charles Edward Marvin of Midland, and three nieces and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the library fund at Albion College, Albion, MI 49224 or to a charity of one’s choice.
