Herbert Joseph Langhals was born on March 17, 1947 in Owosso, Michigan to Anthony and Hazel Langhals. Herb loved the outdoors and nature - which made living in the Upper Peninsula the right place for him. He loved rustic camping, hikes in the woods, walks on the Lake Superior beaches, bicycling, lighthouses, gambling at the local casinos, and had been an avid hunter and stream fisherman (always at the stream waiting for those smelt to run in the spring). He enjoyed wildlife, keeping the birds and ducks and even the deer fed at his home. Herb loved all college and high school sports, especially going to the Sault High and Lake State Lakers games, and he always followed MSU and UM athletics (his sons' alma maters). Last but not least - he loved to cook and his cooking was outstanding.
Leaving to cherish many memories are: his wife, Kathleen Langhals of Haslett, MI, and two amazing sons he was so proud of, Nicholas Langhals of North Bethesda, MD and Travis (Bridget) Langhals of Naperville, IL. Herb cherished his two Grandsons, Grayson and Landon. Herbert is also survived by: sisters Dorothy Reathford of Elsie, MI and Diane Douglas of Owosso, MI, brother Richard Langhals of St. Charles, MI, and several Nieces and Nephews. He is predeceased by his infant son Jeremy Langhals and infant daughter Michelle Langhals, brother George Langhals, sister Rosie Langhals Reatherford, and parents Anthony and Hazel Langhals.
