Born August 18, 1927 in Alton, Illinois to Edward and Grace Arth, passed away on May 27, 2013. Iola was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Iola was married to her high school sweetheart Gordon for 64 years. Iola was an avid golfer and together they enjoyed retirement in Pinehurst, North Carolina before moving back to East Lansing to be with children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, daughter, Diane (Dennis) Olmstead; son, Charles (Mary Karen) Henderson; grandchildren, Charlie (Nicole) Henderson, Angie Olmstead, Michael Olmstead and Amanda Olmstead; brother, Alvin (Mary) Arth; sisters, Viola Hessel, Joyce (Joe) Giardina and Loretta (Nelson) Henry.
The family would like to thank special caregivers, Dr. Mark Ensberg and his staff; Christina Zarka; her hospice providers Jennifer and Raina and Pam Miller and the loving friends at Cutters Point.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 4:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
