

Irene Trudeau was born in Crosby, MN on February 22, 1923 and passed away on September 9, 2015 at the age of 92. She was the daughter of Joseph Meyer and Lenore Meyer (Blood). As a child, she moved to Billings, MT. with her family. She stayed in Billings until she was a high school graduate and went to work at the telephone company. She met Gordon (Jim) Trudeau from Michigan who was working in Montana as an ironworker. They married on April 25, 1949. They eventually moved to Michigan where they lived for the rest of their lives. Irene was a wonderful and loving mother of six, grandmother to twelve children and great-grandmother of nine; along with four step-grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Surviving are three daughters, Donna (Wayne) Jenks of Okemos, Dianne (Randy) Pohl of Lyons, and Patti (Thom) Cooper of Grand Rapids; two sons, Rick (Carol) Trudeau of Lansing and Kelly (DiAnna) Trudeau of Ludington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, on August 5, 1996 and her son, Gary Edward, November 11, 2015. Irene taught ceramic classes in her home and then expanded the business with her friend, Mary Swain. They named their store The Personal Touch. After several years, they closed their shop with many special memories. Later on, she decided to go to school and become a nail technician. She worked in downtown Lansing for a few years. Cooking and baking for her family and friends was her passion; to this day she is remembered for her fabulous meals. One of her specialties was her Christmas fudge! She was an avid Bingo player, loved cards and playing Mahjong. Retirement included traveling all over the United States, many cruises and moving to Ludington, MI in the summer and Barefoot Bay, FL in the winter. She enjoyed boating on Torch Lake, Lake Michigan, and spending time with family and friends. A special thanks to the staff of Ingham County Medical Care Facility and our special Angel.
