Jim was a good man and umpire. Had the pleasure to get to know him over many years of playing softball in the East Lansing leagues. Always had a smirk/smile, and did his best to do that thankless job, fair. The picture provided by family is a perfect representation of the look he would give when you would plead your case for a reversal of a call on the field.
