James C. Gent of Haslett, Michigan passed away on Friday April 11, 2014. James was born in Paw Paw, Michigan on August 16, 1944 to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Davis) Gent. He graduated from Bangor High School in 1962 and then went on to get a Bachelor’s of Science at Central Michigan University. He also received a Master’s in Education from Michigan State University. James was an administrator, teacher, and coach for Haslett Public Schools over the course of 43 years. He received the Charles E. Forsythe Award from the Michigan High School Athletic Association and was recognized as State Athletic Director of the Year in 2008.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Lucinda Gent; daughter, Katie Gent; sons, Edward Gent, Chad Gent and his wife Genna; and their grandchildren, Grace and Charlie Gent.
A memorial service and visitation will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Haslett High School, 5450 Marsh Road, Haslett, MI. The service will be from 6:00 – 7:00 pm with a visitation with the family to follow immediately after from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
The family will also receive friends for a memorial visitation on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
