James Donald Herro

Laingsburg

Don passed away January 21, 2015 at the age of 86. He was born June 19, 1928 in Oconomowoc, WI to James Daher and Rose (Kelly) Herro. He was the owner of several Big Boy restaurants. Prior to that he was contracts manager for Goodyear Aerospace and North American Rockwell. He served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 12044 in Laingsburg, serving as treasurer; served as usher at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Laingsburg and belonged to the American Legion Post #269 in Haslett. He participated for several years in his family’s dance recitals, enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing at Scenic Lake, bowling and golfing.

He was preceded in death by his son Joey Herro and sister Marion Ellis.

Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Kay; children Renee Herro of Vernon Hills, IL, Michael (Terre) Herro of Howell, MI and Tina (Mike) Ferland of St. Johns, MI; brother James (Norma Heasley) Herro of Florida; daughter-in-law Kammie (George) Strait of Laingsburg; grandchildren Amber (Jacob) Redmond, Jacob Ferland, Morgan Ferland, Maya Ferland and Matthew Herro; great-grandchild Julius James Redmond.

The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 26, 2015, 1:00 pm at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 310 Crum Street, Laingsburg, MI. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 11-1 pm prior to the service.
