

She was born Genevieve Fisher on March 29, 1938, in Lansing, Michigan to Robert Vernon and Hazel Loretta (Lippincott) Fisher and was adopted at the age of seven by Irene Wallace and John Wallace.
Jennie began taking piano lessons at home when she was seven years old and enjoyed visiting the Lake Lansing Amusement Park as a child. She graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing, Michigan, where she was an active member of the French Club and Paint Splashers. On December 19, 1959, at the age of 21, she married Thomas Wayne Owen and before his death in 2017, they were blessed with 57 years of marriage.
Jennie worked in food service for the East Lansing School District and was a devoted member of Towar Hart Baptist Church in East Lansing, Michigan. She served as the church pianist for more than fifty years. Her love of growing flowers, particularly gladiolas, and taking motorcycle trips with her husband Wayne to northern Michigan and the east coast were well known. She loved her grandkids and great grandkids and cherished the moments she had with them. She is remembered for her dedication to family, interest in others, musical talent, and commitment to her church family and faith.
She is survived by her children, Toby Lee Owen of East Lansing, MI; Cynthia Sue (Owen) Wise of Myerstown, PA; and Julie Ann (Owen) Adkins of Bainbridge, OH. Her grandchildren include Laura Elizabeth (Wise) Zimmerman; Amber Marie (Wise) Dechert; Matthew David Wise; and Rebecca Joy Wise, along with Elizabeth Webster and Ralph Webster. Her great-grandchildren are Braxton Gaskin, Hunter Gaskin, Benson Gaskin, Austin Dechert, Coltyn Dechert, Macie Wise, Scarlet Wise, Mason Allen, Madelyn Allen, Carson Bateman, Isla Webster, Caden Webster, Walker Webster, and Waylen Webster. She also leaves behind many cherished friends.
Jennie was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Wayne Owen, on May 26, 2017, and her grandson, Jacob Wayne Webster, on June 3, 2023.
Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI, on November 21, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 12:00 pm. A committal service will take place at Chapel Hill 4444 W Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI.
Jennie's life was beautifully summed up in three words: Faith, Family, and Friends.
