

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Judy Kranz; brothers, Donald Kranz, Harry Kranz, and Max Kranz.
Surviving are his sons, Jeffery (Cindy) Kranz, Jim (Kelly) Kranz, Jerry Kranz; daughter, Julie (Rodney) Lane; grandchildren, Rodney (Jessica) Lane III, Cheryl (Christopher) Bawden, Alexis Kranz, Jimmy Kranz; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lane, Marissa Lane, Brooklyn Lane, Jenna Sheldon-Bawden, Kameryn Bawden; brother, Richard (Jean) Kranz; sister, Norma Detzler; and several nieces and nephews.
Jimmie was a 1954 graduate of Okemos High School. He worked as a lab technician at Melody Farms (formerly Sealtest and then Lansing Dairy) for over 40 years, retiring in 1998. He loved the outdoors, farming, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Ingham County All Color Tractor Club. Jimmie had a passion for tractors and took great pride in the ownership of his many tractors, particularly the 1936 John Deere Model D.
Jimmie was a loving and caring father. He will be forever cherished in the lives of his family. He was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had many friends over the years and cherished those friendships.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at The Willows of Okemos and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for the great loving care given and for making Dad feel at home.
Funeral Services will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:00am with Pastor Gerhard Weigelt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Maple Ridge Cemetery, Holt, Michigan.
