He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Weldon Baril, and his wife, JoAnn.
He leaves behind sister, Lynn Baril of East Lansing, MI, sisters-in-law Aneta Payne of Marshall, NC, Kellie L. Esterline (Todd) of Ruther Glen, VA, brother-in-law, Gary Payne of River Rouge, MI, niece, Melissa Green, and great niece, Taylor Green of Marshall, NC.
John graduated from Lincoln Park High School, and Wayne State University. He was in the Army, second infantry, stationed in South Korea. He was a specialist assigned as the Division Claims Examiner. He revised the claims branch and operating procedures and initiated new processes for claims investigations for which he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. John retired in 2009 as a well-respected workers compensation magistrate for the State of Michigan.
A funeral service will be held on October 7th at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes at 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing at noon. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service.
