Born February 22, 1925 in Acorn, Missouri to John and Bertha Marie Quisenberry, went to be with his heavenly father on January 12, 2013 at the age of 87. John graduated from Mecosta High School and then served in the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II as an Army paratrooper. He retired in 1987 after 27 years of service from Michigan State University where he was an electrician. John was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. John was a very active member of Pennway Church of God, serving in many capacities including as Treasurer and Trustee. He enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ina Jean; daughters, Charlene (Terry) Simons and Gloria (Dwight) Cook ; son, Daniel (Deborah) Quisenberry; 7 grandchildren, Noell (Sal) Garza, Holly Simons, Justin (Margaret) Cook, Logan Cook, Ashley (Josh) VanHorn, Jessica Quisenberry, Brooke Quisenberry; and 4 great-grandchildren, Ty, Mattie, Caleb and Jay; brother, Dwight (Norma) Quisenberry.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Pennway Church of God, 1101 E. Cavanaugh Rd, Lansing, MI 48910, with the Rev. John F. Davey officiating. The family will receive friends Friday at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
