

Jose Antonio Guzman Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on Aug.2, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. Born on May 10, 1937 in Manila, Philippines. He was fondly known as "Chingky" to those close to him. Jose lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith and service.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce majoring in Accounting from De La Salle University in the Philippines. In 1965, he immigrated to the United States, where he built a meaningful life rooted in hard work and community. Jose served as an auditor for the State of Michigan and also contributed his expertise to the Our Lady of Fatima Group-an organization close to his heart.
Jose was known for his intelligence, kindness, and loving nature. He was an avid golfer who found joy on the greens and cherished time spent with those around him. His warmth and wisdom left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Amelia Sinco Guzman with whom he shared more than 50 years of companionship and devotion. Jose is lovingly remembered by his children Corina Guzman-Angala and Jose (Bong) Guzman III (Victoria); grandchildren Miguel, Justin and Anton; brother Renato F. Guzman (Gigi); sister Maria Christina Guzman-Avelino (Eddie); nieces and nephews Katrina, Patrick (Anavic), Carmela, Joseph (Pam), John (Leticia), and Buffy (Martin).
A visitation for Jose will be held Monday, August 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St Thomas Aquinas Church, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing MI 48823, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady of Fatima Rosary and Prayer Group.
