Joyce was an intelligent, lovely, hardworking woman. She grew up on her family’s farm in Ashley, and after graduating from high school, attended Owosso Business Institute at the age of sixteen. She went on to work as a bookkeeper, office manager and secretary, in the Lansing area, California and Texas, and lastly as a cashier at Lansing Community College. Joyce loved working. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, reading, and chocolate.
We are deeply grateful for the excellent and loving care she received from all the staff at Timber Ridge Assisted Living Facility in East Lansing. Her last few years were greatly enriched by her time there. A special thank you to Rob for his kindness and piano playing, which was the highlight of her week, and Jackie for her cheerfulness and storytelling. We also wish to thank Great Lakes Caring Hospice for all their kindness and support.
There will be a Celebration of Joyce’s life, in the spring, on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Bengel Wildlife Center, 6380 Drumheller Road, Bath, MI at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank, P. O. Box 16224, Lansing, MI 48901 in memory of Joyce.
