Born August 12, 1925 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Edward and Anna Cord passed away on his birthday at the age of 88. Julius was a District Sales Manager for Stran-Steel Division of National Steel. Upon retirement he owned Cord Marketing. Julius was a Korean War Veteran, a member of St. Martha’s Church, the Walnut Hills Country Club, and Power Squadron. He loved bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, sailing and playing cards. He was the author of 2 books “Lickskillet: The Story of a Kansas Boy Growing Up in the Thirties” and “Lickskillet Revisited”.
Julius is survived by his wife Betty of Okemos, Michigan and sister, Rose Lovell of Leavenworth and numerous nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clark and George and sisters, Dixie Forbes and June Franklin.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 19, 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 711 N. 5th Street, Leavenworth. Interment will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery in Lansing, Kansas. The family will receive friends at R. L. Leintz Funeral Home, 4701 10th Ave, Leavenworth, Kansas on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. where the Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m.
